Williamson Creek is near Brevard, North Carolina. This area, not far from Cedar Mountain, is very rich in ghost stories. One legend dates back to the Civil War, when a group of Union soldiers was discovered camping there. Nearby Confederate officers were sent to investigate the group and reportedly killed them. One of the soldiers was decapitated, and when the bodies were buried, they could not find the man’s head. Not long after the killing, locals began reporting sounds of agony and sightings of the headless man near Glen Cannon Falls at night. The ghostly man roamed the Creekside, searching for his lost head.
