The 1986 Disappearance of Elizabeth “Libby” Crawford

On the evening of July 16, 1986, Elizabeth “Libby” Crawford received a call. Ms. Crawford, just 34 years old at the time, was living at 108 Cherrywood Mobile Park in Simpsonville, South Carolina, when she went missing. Crawford told her son that she was going to a friend’s house after receiving a call from a man with a deep voice. She indicated that she would be back soon.

Elizabeth, known as “Libby,” never arrived at the friend’s house that evening. On July 19, 1986, Libby’s 1978 Chevrolet Malibu was found abandoned in Fountain Inn in front of Wilson Sporting Goods. Crawford is described as blonde, 5 feet 2 inches tall, and was last seen wearing a white tank top, white shorts, sandals, and carrying a white purse.

“The Simpsonville Police Department has witnesses who state they saw Ms. Crawford two days after the disappearance in the company of a woman outside the Ingles in Simpsonville.” (Crime Stoppers)

Someone knows what happened to Libby Crawford on that evening, when she mysteriously disappeared in Simpsonville. Maybe that person is you.

If you have information on her whereabouts, please call Crimestoppers at 23-CRIME or the Simpsonville Police Department at 864-967-9536.
