Does Radford Gatlin Haunt Downtown Gatlinburg

Gatlinburg is named after Radford Gatlin, who remains a controversial figure in the town’s history, many years after his death. Gatlin moved to the area in the mid-1800s, opening a general store and a post office, when it was known as White Oak Flats. The name changed to Gatlinburg in his honor, but Gatlin was known to be quick-tempered, with a brash personality, which made him a quick enemy of the other residents.

Eventually, Gatlin was run out of town, but some believe that his spirit continues to live on in downtown Gatlinburg.

Some say Radford Gatlin haunts the site around his former general store, causing mischief and eerie feelings. Others have reported strange occurrences in this part of town, such as mysterious noises and a sense of being watched.

Is Radford Gatlin still seeking justice in a town that banished him many years ago?
