The Appalachian Mountains can be a scary place, especially at night. I’ve spent hours driving around them without cell service.
One tale that many may not be aware of is the story of the witch said to hunt little children on Norton Creek Trail near Lake Fontana. As you may recall, we have written numerous stories about this region in the past.

According to Cherokee legend, a witch named Spearfinger, who has one finger made of stone and sharpened like a knife, is said to lurk deep in the woods on the highest mountain ridge.
ABC News 13 reported this on October 30, 2019, and appeared on Spook Eats. Legend has it that old Spearfinger lures children to her home so she can rock them to sleep and sing to them before removing their livers and eating them.
It’s enough to drive your soul to the brink of insanity.
