Is this Historic Home in Spartanburg Haunted

Construction began in 1801 and lasted seven years. Foster’s Tavern sits on the corner of Union Street and Southport Road. It is said to be the oldest brick home in Spartanburg County and one of the most haunted locations in the area.

According to multiple online reports, the old structure has accrued a few paranormal residents over the years. Footsteps and voices can be heard in the area of the stairs, along with horses’ hooves on the roof.

The property was a stop on a well-traveled stagecoach route to Charleston and was turned into a tavern by Anthony Foster in the 1830s.

Today, the old home is a private residence. This article is a part of our series, Haunted Spartanburg.
