It is said that there is a Southern back road that holds a secret worth screaming about. From a distance, you might assume that Ridgeview Road in Chester County, South Carolina, is just one of those usual dead-end roads, holding some mobile homes and the occasional small house in the country.
According to author Tally Johnson in his book Ghosts of the South Carolina Upcountry, there is a gate on this road, locking the public out since the land is private property. You can drive up to the gate and blow your horn, summoning a mysterious ball of white light. Some believe you have to pass through the gate and enter deeper into the woods for it to work.
Allegedly, the white light is the disembodied spirit of a small child. According to Johnson, the road was a driveway leading to a house. A child on Ridgeview Road died there in his sleep, while others believe he was tragically killed by a hay baler. At night, when the boy’s light manifests, it can be seen dancing between the trees and floating in the air.
What is at the end of this small driveway is only the beginning when it comes to the afterlife.
(Disclaimer) This small driveway is on private property. You must get permission to visit.
