One cemetery in Cherokee County is allegedly haunted. Legend has it that this place comes alive at night, with fighting often occurring around midnight. Gunshots blare into the distance, with cannon fire. Apparition appears from thin air with weapons, and if you are brave enough to walk these grounds, creatures will chase you with bloody teeth and red eyes, screaming.
This location appears in several South Carolina ghost books. If what is written online and in these books is true, this may be the gates to hell.
The cemetery is near Crestview Church on Highway 11, approximately 3.2 miles from the Cowpens National Battlefield. Please verify that the premises are listed as private property before visiting. If so, you will need permission.
