One historic home that deserves more attention is the iconic Korner’s Folly in Kernersville, North Carolina. When I lived in the area a few years ago, I would walk past this beautiful structure daily on my way downtown for a beer and a bite to eat.
Labeled as the “strangest house in America,” Korner’s Folly is where history stood still. It also looks haunted—the home dates to circa 1880, when furniture maker Jule Korner built it. Korner would ultimately pass away in the home in 1924, and the residence would briefly serve as a funeral parlor before being converted into a tourist attraction.

People have reported hearing disembodied voices, footsteps, shifting furniture, and lights that mysteriously turn on and off. Korner’s Folly is described in the book Ghosts of the Triad, with claims that the spirits are reportedly warm and welcoming.
