What Led to Clemson University student Tucker Hipp’s Death

It will soon be eleven years since Tucker Hipps was reported missing on Monday, September 22, 2014. Hipps failed to return from an early morning fraternity run around 5:30 am, near the Clemson University campus. Later that afternoon, Tucker’s body was discovered in Lake Hartwell, below the Highway 93 Bridge.

Tucker was pledging the Beta Chapter of Sigma Phi Epsilon at Clemson. It wouldn’t be until 1:45 pm that a call was made to campus police by one of the brothers asking for information concerning Hipps, but that person did not file a missing person’s report.

Tragically, around 3:30 pm, one of the brothers led campus police to where Tucker was found. Tucker was just 19 years old at the time of his death.

Imagine being the parent or a loved one, not knowing the events that led to Tucker being in the water underneath the Highway 93 Bridge almost eleven years ago. Still, someone knows exactly what happened on that early morning run. So far, no charges have ever been filed in Tucker’s death.

Tucker and his family deserve justice.
