During the summer of 1973, residents and people visiting the Grand Strand in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, were treated to one of the greatest mysteries in South Carolina history.
Sometime in the early evening hours, onlookers began noticing lights in the sky over the Atlantic. At first, it appeared as a faint orange-red glow, but after a few minutes, the light grew brighter on the horizon, rotating slowly. Many wondered what the hell it was, but soon, the smaller lights from the craft came into focus, flickering and vanishing, sending people into a frenzy.

Calls were made to local law enforcement, with some reaching Shaw Air Force Base, but there was no aircraft registered to be in that area at that time.
Some reports indicate the craft hovered in place foralmost thirty minutes, then darted and zigzagged away until it stopped again. This time, the flying object stopped in place and hovered, finally leaving in an upward trajectory within mere seconds.
Decades later, it remains unexplained, but the people who witnessed it still whisper of that night. Some call it one of South Carolina’s great UFO mysteries.
