In the small rural settlement of Brantley’s Grove in Hertford County, North Carolina, sits the Jenkins Cemetery. According to the book North Carolina Ghost Lights and Legends, on page 36. A ghostly ball of fire rose from the ground of the cemetery, moving at a height of about ten feet above the ground. It floated through a wooded area, across a field and dirt road, and into the side of a home.
The light then returned to the cemetery and vanished. According to the book, the incident occurred near the intersection of Ahoskie/Cofield, Willoughby, and Vann Roads. It was reportedly seen on many different occasions many years ago.
It was almost as if the light fulfilled its mysterious objective and hadn’t been seen or captured in six decades.
