Barbara Jean Anderson was 37 years old at the time of her death. She was found murdered on June 12, 1997, in a wooded area off of River Road in Wilmington, North Carolina.
According to a WECT Channel 6 news article on March 25, 2014, “Anderson’s killer used a hanger to strangle the life out of her and left her with a laundry bag over her head and her body wrapped in bed sheets. A fisherman later found her body.”
No one has ever been charged with her murder, and the case remains cold, almost 30 years later.
