William Dean Ponder went missing on August 28, 1993, in Chesnee, South Carolina. Ponder was 41 years old at the time of his mysterious disappearance. At the time, he resided in the 6800 block of Parris Bridge Road.
On August 28, 1993, Ponder spent the evening with some friends at J’s Tavern, near his home. His friends stated they had dropped him off at the Martin Feed Mill at the intersection of Parris Bridge Road and Martin Camp Road.
William Dean Ponder has never been heard from again.
He was reported missing by his father on September 2 of that year. According to The Charley Project, “Foul play is suspected in his case; in 2006, a former acquaintance of William’s told police he had been murdered. He has been declared legally dead, but his remains have never been found.”
