Travelers on Highway 38 between Harlan and Evarts, Kentucky, have reported seeing a ghostly woman in white on rainy nights for the past 80 years in the Coxton area.
The legend says that motorists have spotted the specter as they make their way down the dark highway, but what she does next is terrifying. After she makes her presence known, she will appear in the backseat of the vehicle.
This story is very familiar to the many others we have written, but this tale isn’t just your run-of-the-mill urban legend.
People ranging from community members to even law enforcement have reported having encounters with the woman. Some have even reported quitting their jobs to avoid making deliveries or driving buses along this route.
