Hollins University has earned quite a reputation for its ghostly activity on Campus. If you’re unfamiliar, Hollins University is located in Roanoke, Virginia. I have highlighted a few stories from this area in the past, but this next one is a tale that you may not be familiar with.
Legend says a man on a white horse comes out of Read Mountain near the tavern and rides toward Hollins College. Reportedly, he lost his love and continues to search for her, even after his death. He wears a hat similar to that of the Confederate cavalry general, J.E.B. Stuart.
According to an article in The Roanoke Times dated October 27, 1994, the owner of the Black Horse Tavern stated that she and “her neighbors have not seen the spirit, though workers at a horse barn once said they saw him.”
