The ghostly bride of Cataloochee Valley is a local legend, not widely known or documented. Cataloochee Valley is a beautiful place with historic structures in the Great Smoky Mountains of North Carolina. Many haunted tales blanket this area, like a heavy mountain fog.
One legend says that a young woman was set to marry the man of her dreams in the late 1800s in a quaint church in the valley. But the groom never arrived. He was tragically killed in a freak accident on his way to the wedding.

The young woman became heartbroken and wandered the valley in her wedding dress until she perished in a tragic end.
To this day, people have reported seeing a ghostly woman in white, carrying a bouquet of wilted flowers through the valley, awaiting her soon-to-be husband to arrive.
