On January 7, 1991, David Rocheville and Richard Longworth, both 23 at the time, decided to rob the WestGate Mall Cinema in Spartanburg, South Carolina, where they had worked in the past.
No one was prepared for what was about to happen.

The pair armed themselves and went to watch a movie. When they headed towards the lobby, they encountered a young college student who worked as an usher. They dragged him outside and killed him.
Then, they went to the front of the cinema, where they forced 24-year-old manager James Todd Greene to hand them the money from the safe. They kidnapped Greene, drove him a short distance from the theater, and murdered him.
Rocheville was executed on December 3, 1999, and Longworth was executed on April 15, 2005, for the crimes.
