Is the Thicketty Creek Bridge in Cherokee County Haunted

Some have claimed the bridge at Thicketty Creek in Cherokee County, South Carolina, is haunted. I was there today, capturing photos. Unfortunately, the road to Whig Hill Cemetery was blocked off, but I will cover Whig Hill in more depth in the book.

Is this bridge haunted? That is a great question, but it would not be surprising since this was once part of a massive plantation, and the grounds are forever tied to war. After I left, it dawned on me as I drove to Blacksburg that I had thought about nearby Fort Thicketty or Thicketty Fort during the Revolutionary War in July of 1780, approximately 9 miles from Highway 18, from where I stood at the time of this photo.

While I cannot confirm if the bridge is indeed haunted, I am not shocked by the claims, given the area’s history and the other alleged haunted locations close to it.

On a side note, Thicketty Creek got its name from the thick vegetation along it.
