The Weeping Woman of Hotel Dalton

The Landmark Building in downtown Dalton is one of the tallest structures in the area. It initially served the public as a hotel in 1890, named Hotel Dalton, before it was destroyed by a 1911 fire that swept through the city.

The hotel was restored around 1923, and today, it serves as office space, and it’s also allegedly haunted by the “weeping woman.”

According to author and historian Connie Hall-Scott, the tragedy occurred in the 1960s, when a young woman checked into the hotel. The woman was believed to have been either 17 or 18 years old at the time and had taken a job as a carhop at the Cherokee Drive-in movie theater.

She had been in a relationship with an older man, who decided to end the relationship.

Distraught over the break-up, the young woman brought a pistol to her third-floor room and decided to slip off into eternity after she pulled the trigger.

People have reportedly heard disembodied cries in the building.
