Brasstown Bald is the highest natural point in Georgia, reaching an elevation of 4,784 feet. As you may imagine, not only is Brasstown a larger mountain in the southern Appalachian region, but it is also steeped in local folklore.
Some hikers have reported eerie sensations, mysterious sounds, and even seeing apparitions, especially around the early evening hours.
Legend tells of spirits that are said to still linger in the wilderness, that are believed to be the souls of the original inhabitants, and those who met untimely deaths.
