If you travel near Blowing Rock, North Carolina, at mile marker 290 on the Blue Ridge Parkway, you will be in Thunder Hill, which rises prominently from the Blue Ridge. These hills have a rich history, and many ghostly tales are associated with them.

In the 1920s, before the construction of the Blue Ridge Parkway, a farm was located there, near the bottom of the hill. Reportedly, a young family lived there; Carl, Nelly, and their young son occupied the space. Late one night, it began to thunder violently outside, as Nelly headed to put the horse in the barn. When she walked outside, the legend says that she came face to face with a brown-haired humanoid creature with yellow streaks down its fur.
The creature grabbed Nelly, but Nelly fought back as she grabbed the porch post and yelled for help. When Carl ran outside to help, the beast ran off into the mountains.
It’s also reported that other Thunder Hill residents saw the creature over the following weeks. Since then, there have been no additional reported sightings of the Thunder Hill Creature.
