The St. Albans Sanatorium in Radford, Virginia, was similar to the others I have covered in the past. These institutions were notoriously cruel, using inhuman methods like shock therapy, lobotomies, and other archaic practices on the patients.
Doctors performed trials that had no positive effect on the patients, who acted as test subjects for savage experiments. Many of the patients died because of the torture they experienced.

Not to mention, the property was tied in with a bloody Civil War battle, The Battle of Cloyd’s Mountain.
Visitors have reported hearing rifles and cannon fire, and even the smell of gun smoke when walking the grounds.
With so much death that occurred on these grounds, St. Albans is considered one of the most haunted places in Virginia.
