South Carolina is home to some of the most beautiful lakes in the country. Every year, many flock to these bodies of water for recreation to escape the boiling temperatures. One Midlands lake is said to be the home to a mythical creature that some have compared to a Loch Ness-type monster, while dubbing the lake the nickname Loch Murray.

The creature, named Murray the Monster, has been described by people as very large, long-necked, and with one or more humps. Although the first sighting dates back to 1933, several people have allegedly encountered it swimming in the lake within the last few years, near the dam and Bomb Island.
The next time you go for a quick swim in Lake Murray, and something nips at your toes, you may want to exit as soon as possible. Murray may be hungry and in need of a quick snack
