This Alleged Haunted Hotel in Georgia is a Scary Good Time

Atlanta is nicknamed “Hotlanta” for a reason, and it may have to do with the electromagnetic waves in the night air. Georgia is rich in history and things that go bump in the night, from haunted graveyards and lakes to hotels. If you are in the market for a scary good night, the hotel in this article may be your calling card.

The Ellis Hotel is so elegant and filled with activities to do that you’d call it an extension of your vacation. One night in this hotel will have you feeling like a king or queen. Some even believe the beautiful hotel is home to a few long-term guests who never checked out.

An unfortunate event occurred in 1946 when 119 people died in one of the deadliest hotel fires in U.S. History, when it was called the Winecoff Hotel. Many guests tried to escape the fire by jumping from windows to their deaths, which claimed almost a third of the victims.

Today, apparitions are reported in the hallways and windows, accompanied by screams and the smell of smoke, as the fire alarm sounds at 2:48 a.m., the exact time the blaze started almost seventy-eight years ago.

“Staff members have also reported that calls come to the hotel switchboard from unoccupied rooms… People outside the hotel have also claimed to have seen faces in the windows, some of them appearing to scream in pain.” – Southern Spirit Guide.

It sounds like Atlanta is the place for the living and the deceased.
