SC Man Built A UFO Welcome Center In His Backyard To Welcome Aliens

You may be thinking, don’t things like this only happen in Florida? No, South Carolina comes in second in the United States for the strangest or most uncommon things.

Welcome to Bowman, South Carolina, where Jody Pendarvis decided to construct his very own UFO Welcome Center in his backyard. His reasoning? Aliens need a place to relax and unwind after traveling through the galaxies. After all, humans are not the only ones in need of a bit of R&R.

For the specialized respite for the extra-terrestrials, Pendarvis chose to construct a 46-foot-wide flying saucer out of various materials, including wood, fiberglass, and plastic, in 1994. He later added another 20-foot saucer in 2003. According to Pendarvis, it’s cooler than his mobile home, so in the hot SC summers, he sleeps in it. Pendarvis envisions himself as the ambassador to the aliens, so what better way to welcome them than by living in one of the saucers himself? The smaller one sits unbolted on top of the larger one. According to Pendarvis, it will be easier for the aliens to move it if it is unattached.

Inside the large structure, the aliens will find ice-cold A.C., a satellite, a TV, a toilet and shower, and a bed. According to Wikipedia, “The structure, entered via a powered ramp, is mounted on four columns, designed to raise and lower with motors.”

As of 2016, human visitors are required to pay a $20 entrance fee. The UFO Welcome Center was sadly destroyed a few months ago.
