The Spartanburg Tanning Yard, or Yards, is one story that we have been asked to write about in the past, and believe it or not, we have never covered it. Locals say the Tanning Yard(s), near Adidas, is one of the most haunted places in the state. The property was once a place of business where cow hides were tanned for leather. It is said that many homicides occurred in the vicinity of the Tanning Yards since the mid-1900s.
Legend has it that the area is home to the Woman in White, who is said to appear under the railroad trestle at night. Several reports exist of people who have encountered strange things while visiting, and it has become a favorite for thrill seekers.
