“Beautiful Faces, Spooky Places” should be South Carolina’s new motto. The Palmetto State is loaded with paranormal hotspots, with most information readily available with a quick Google search. Roads and bridges are fascinating, ghostly attractions due to their availability for visitors looking for a scare. The sheer thought of encountering a specter in the middle of the night while driving an old rural backroad is enough to leave your body terror-stricken. While the state has many legends and tales surrounding eerie streets, roads, and bridges, only a few live up to the hype. One road in Laurens County is considered one of the most haunted in South Carolina and happens to have the perfect name.

Nestled off Exit 10 on Interstate 385 sits Ghost Creek Road, which legend says has a spine-chilling past. The story says that a young man met his untimely demise in a car crash on this road the night before his wedding. Some say he is still searching for his beautiful bride in the afterlife. The accident allegedly occurred around a sharp curve on a small bridge. If you are brave enough to stop, turn the car off, and walk around it in a clockwise direction, you will see a white apparition in the nearby trees. Some have reported blood-curdling screams and orbs, while others have encountered vehicle problems afterward, so you may want to bring a friend.
Is the specter in the woods the same man who succumbed to his injuries on that fateful night?
The road and story are well-known in the area. Perhaps if you venture down Ghost Creek Road one night and encounter the stranger, you can offer him some assistance.
