The Jacksonboro Light

For decades, the legend of the Jacksonboro Light has attracted thrill seekers to Parkers Ferry Road in Adams Run, South Carolina, east of Walterboro. The real-life ghost story reportedly originated when a local preacher was struck and killed by a train in the area while searching for his missing daughter, who was never found.

Locals claim that at night, you can see the ghostly shine of a lantern swinging back and forth, accompanied by the faint sound of a train whistle in the distance.

Some say to see the preacher appear and the glow from his lantern, park on the road, and flash your lights five times. Others say the light will automatically appear and move toward you.

The only deviation we found in the story is that a car hit the preacher, not a train.

Is the preacher still looking for his daughter in the afterlife?
