The Headless Woman of Lydia Mills

The old mill ruins at the old Lydia Mill site in Clinton, South Carolina, are now behind a locked fence, but at one time, they had employee housing. Legend says a headless female specter patrols the area near the railroad tracks at night, still searching for her head. Several stories are online about how she lost her head.

According to local Donnie W. Cooper in his Brief Encounters with the Headless Woman of Lydia Mill, the specter has been spotted all over the community, even in the graveyard, and she was a murder victim.

While the site is now off-limits to the public (private property), if you take the side street, you may see her still searching in the afterlife for her head.
