The Haunted Pink House in Charleston

The Pink House is one of the oldest structures in Charleston. The exact date of construction is unknown, but it is believed to have been constructed between the late 1600s and 1712. John Brenton built the one-bedroom home at 17 Chalmers Street that later became famously known as The Pink House. In the past, the old home has served as a tavern and brothel, a law office, a private residence, and an art gallery.

This area was a known hangout for pirates and sailors in the 1600s and 1700s. Today, many claim the house is home to many spirits. Visitors have allegedly seen a ghostly woman walking the steps, handprints on the windows, windows that open on their own, heard footsteps, experienced cold chills, and felt the sensation of being touched and watched while inside.

The Pink House is near the Dock Street Theatre.
