The Bootlegger House, located at 400 N. Poplar Street in Charlotte, has a rich history and is reportedly haunted by at least one ghostly presence that has chosen to remain after its physical life ended.
This beautiful Queen Anne-style home is considered the staple of the Fourth Ward and was built in 1894. Bootleggers once used it during Prohibition to hide their booze during the 1920s.
Last year, the home went on the market for a cool $1.1 million, and it’s not known for its hidden compartments; it is also reportedly one of Charlotte’s most haunted residences.
Many eerie incidents have occurred inside, and some believe the historic structure is haunted by the ghostly man who is said to wear a raincoat and hat.
