This North Carolina Haunted Bridge will “Drive” Your Soul Mad

Despite Asheville’s popularity and welcoming atmosphere, there are several landmarks in this North Carolina city that stand out, leaving a lasting impression as you pass by them. One such place is Helen’s Bridge. Yes, the city is lively, but drive far enough on College Street, and you’ll experience the lack thereof. During the day, it’s menacing enough. I wouldn’t be caught dead here at night. When the sun goes down, the darkness does all but hold back, consuming both the bridge and the surrounding area.

Refrain from going into the woods! Dark entities have been said to camouflage themselves within the nearby trees and shrubbery, waiting for any sign of life that walks across the bridge. And do not think you’re safe by driving under the bridge. Car batteries have spontaneously cut off, leaving drivers stuck inside their vehicles until dawn. If you find yourself stuck, try refraining from looking around. Scratches from invisible branches have been known to scrape against cars, and the wind in the area will begin to howl.

Energy is sapped, and it attempts to take all signs of life with it. The reason? The bridge is named after a woman, Helen, who lost her daughter in a fire inside the walls of Zealandia Castle, her home. According to the legend, the grief-stricken Helen was so hard that she fled her home. The bridge that would soon be named after her allowed safe passage when leaving the castle, but she had another purpose for it on this fateful day. As she ran, she came across a rope lying on the ground.

With remorse and pain in her heart, Helen jumped from the bridge, taking her own life. Whatever demons were haunting Helen to commit such an action could be the same entities hiding in the woods that surrounded the bridge on either side.

Some have reported that Helen came to them, requesting directions so that she could continue searching for her little girl. Others are less fortunate, seeing Helen’s body hanging from the bridge, repeating the horrific action in the afterlife.
