One small-town theater in the Upstate of South Carolina is reportedly haunted. The Colony Theatre at 315 West Main Street in Easley was built in 1948. It is alleged that a woman hanged herself on this site before the building of the theatre. Some claim the ghost was simply the curtains in the projection room, blown by air from the projector, while others have a different theory.

In a collection of ghost stories from Ghosts of Upstate South Carolina, John Boyanoski documents the story of a passerby who saw the specter from a window of the old theatre one night while driving from a Clemson football game in 1989, after slowing to admire the old building.
On Cinema Treasures, one person posted that people had heard strange noises on the balcony and the apparition of a woman.
