Right off of Richfield Road in Richfield, North Carolina, is a hill that defies the laws of physics. You’ll know when you arrive once you spot the graffiti sprayed up and down both lanes. Put your car in neutral, and instead of your vehicle going downhill as it should, it will roll uphill instead! This phenomenon gave the hill the name Gravity Hill. But that isn’t all. The road is allegedly haunted.
How haunted is Gravity Hill? Many believe vehicles do this because unseen hands are pushing them. People say pouring baby powder across the bumper is preferred, and they wait to see what happens before taking the trip uphill.

According to legend, multiple handprints appear when this method is performed. But why ghosts? Legend states that a young mother’s car stalled at the bottom of the very same hill with her child inside, and she had no choice but to push the car uphill herself. As she did this, a truck from the oncoming lane sped right through the vehicle, killing both the mother and her child instantly.
Are you brave enough to try and experience this paranormal phenomenon? Some argue that it’s an illusion – that you only feel like you’re going uphill. But many others beg to differ, claiming to have witnessed visible handprints on the trunks of their cars by the time they got out and looked for themselves.
