Does General Abel Kolb Still Walk the Grounds at His Tomb

Five battles and skirmishes were fought here during the Revolutionary War in and near Bennettsville, South Carolina, which includes Hunt’s Bluff, Cashue, Paces Ferry, Brown’s Mill, Bear Swamp, and the assassination of Colonial Abel Kolb by Tories, who lived along the Pee Dee River near Society Hill. Colonial Kolb was shot, and his home was burned along with his family. Visitors who have traveled to his final resting spot believe Colonial Kolb still haunts the grounds at night. Some have reportedly come face to face with the apparition of Kolb, while others have claimed to hear noises from the nearby woods.
