The City Saved By the Dead

By the end of the twentieth century, it seemed that the glory days that had once filled Senoia, Georgia, approximately 40 miles south of Atlanta, were over. In 1989, Paul Lombardi began a search for a site for a new film studio and ultimately settled in the area.

Several movies in the late 1980s and 1990s were shot in Senoia, including Driving Miss Daisy, Fried Green Tomatoes, Sweet Home Alabama, Meet the Browns, and Footloose.

However, Senoia eventually became better known as the home of a popular television show, The Walking Dead, doubling its population since it began filming in 2010. Ironically, the dead saved a city that seemed to be dead, proving that urban resurrection is possible.
