The Black Pelican Restaurant in Kitty Hawk, North Carolina, is an oceanfront eatery offering a relaxing atmosphere and excellent cuisine. It is also allegedly home to at least one long-term resident who haunts the premises.

Once the sixth of seven life-saving stations along the coast, the Black Pelican Restaurant assisted and rescued mariners and sailors lost at sea and stranded on the shoals. In July 1884, Captain James Hobbs, the Station’s leader, was said to have a short temper and a quick fuse. T.L. Daniels was a surfman who loved to hurl insults at the captain. One day, the insults hit a little harder, which caused Captain Hobbs to lose his temper, shooting Daniels and killing him instantly.
Legend says T.L. was supposedly buried at sea with no witnesses, and Hobbs was never arrested for his murder.
Today, it’s believed Daniels can be seen roaming the restaurant searching for justice.
