If you have ever lived in Kernersville, North Carolina, you will know the restaurant at 109 South Main Street named Fitz on Main. I lived in the area for almost 3 years and would frequently pass the building.
According to the book Haunted Kernersville, the business was formerly known as Charlie Snow’s Diner or simply as Snow’s Diner. In the late 1940s, Charlie began serving food in the spot after a roof was constructed over the alley, complete with a few walls and a lunch counter.

In the earliest days, his specialty was sandwiches, and Snow would eventually retire in 1985. The spot became a place to grab coffee and catch up on the news, and Snow was fond of the memories and atmosphere he had created.
Today, the business is known as Fitz on Main, but according to the book, some believe that the former owner is still hard at work on the inside.
It states, “Every cook who has worked for Mr. Fitzpatrick has a story about feeling a tap on their shoulder or the brush of someone passing by when they are standing at the grill alone in the still, dark hours of the morning.”
It further reads, “One of the current cooks told us that while he has gotten used to getting a pat on the back every morning, he did not react as calmly when he watched his two spatulas move and cross each other while they were lying near the grill.”
