Nerd U Comics and Collectibles is a Must-Stop when you pass through the area on I-85. The business is located at 55 State Street in a historic building that dates back to the early 1900s in downtown Commerce.
Initially, a bank operated on the premises, but ultimately, through the years, other businesses moved into the older space. Three vaults remain inside to transport you back to the days before the Great Depression.
Today, the property serves as a haven for Funko Pops, comic books, video games, wrestling, and vintage collectibles.
I happened to stumble inside while in town. As we discussed all things The Walking Dead and even wrestling’s heyday with the incredible staff, I was told that the building is home to two ghostly specters and was even given a tour.
Jacob informed me that a few strange things had begun to occur inside, such as hearing footsteps upstairs and experiencing temperature abnormalities. One day, Jacob experienced a profound temperature change as he walked upstairs and described it as something passing through him. Another reported that while in the bathroom upstairs, the person heard a knock on the door and a child’s laugh.
They knew something was in the building with them, so they contacted a local paranormal research team. During the investigation, they discovered the spirit to be a child named Jake.
Jacob stated that as they close for the day, they usually wave bye to Jake before exiting the building.
Another female spirit is also said to occupy the building’s basement.
