Factors Walk, also commonly spelled Factor’s Walk, is located near the riverfront of River Street. This area is steep in history, and some claim that the people who once walked upon the cobblestone streets here are still with us today, but just in spirit.
Why the name? A factor is a type of trader who receives goods on commission and then sells them. And the goods they were peddling in Savannah were King Cotton.
This area was home to the original Cotton Exchange, where the prices of cotton were determined for the entire industry. Today, thousands of tourists flock here to visit pubs, restaurants, specialty stores, and other businesses; however, a darker side still lurks in the shadows.
Tales of murder, accidental deaths, and other misdeeds still hover like a thick early-morning fog.
People who have visited have reported shadows, tormented moans that echo into the night, and even the touch of a cold hand.
