The Ghost of Barman Joe at The Bowery in Myrtle Beach

Imagine sitting at a bar for a round of spirits and then feeling an actual spirit tap you on the shoulder or a glimpse of one out of the corner of your eye. One bar in South Carolina is forever home to the band Alabama and a popular legend. The Bowery is a legendary music venue and bar in Myrtle Beach. Many believe the ghost of Barman Joe haunts the building.

Joe was an actual person who loved hanging out at the establishment and died while sitting on his regular barstool. Legend says that Joe momentarily revived long enough to relish his last sip of beer before passing on to a better place (This guy will forever be a legend).

Today, visitors often feel that Joe’s spirit lingers inside. Some say you can hear him singing a tune at the bar. If you decide to visit, save a cold one for Joe and play him some Mountain Music, just like Grandma and Grandpa used to play.
