Is this Charleston Hotel Haunted

Charleston is one of the most beautiful cities in the United States and also one of the most haunted, similar to Savannah and New Orleans. Walking the cobblestone streets allows visitors to experience history, southern culture, and charm, but the flip side of Chucktown is hidden deep in the shadows of buildings and graveyards.

The Embassy Suites on Marion Square in Charleston is a beautiful hotel located in the historic district, with numerous online reports of alleged hauntings. The grounds once served as an arsenal (Old Citadel), with the top floor designated for the use of Citadel officers. Visitors who have stayed in rooms on this floor have reported experiencing paranormal activity.

One signature ghost of the premises is alleged to be a young Citadel cadet who is said to frequent room 113. The apparition has been described as wearing his uniform and missing half his head. Ironically, he has been dubbed “Half head” or “Half head man.” People have awakened from deep sleep to find him at the foot of their bed or catching him behind them as they pour a cup of coffee.

One gentleman posted on Reddit about his experience. “We got ready for bed, watched some Netflix, planned our next day, and turned the lights out to go to bed. My fiancé passed out instantly, and I dozed off, but I felt the weirdest pressure consuming my body like I had a ton of bricks on me. I’ve heard of sleep paralysis before, but I have never had it in my life. I opened my eyes and saw the darkest-looking figure in the corner of our room. I was completely frozen and couldn’t speak.”

The next time you plan a trip, ask for the rooms with the most activity. Who knows, you may even experience a visit from the ghost of “Halfhead” or one of his friends who continues to call the premises home, keeping watch.
